Lawyer-client relationships built on trust

Lawyers Caterina Murgo and Katia Graziani build their relationships with the people they assist on absolute clarity and loyalty. They make sure the client is aware of the pros and cons of their situation, so that they are in the best position to make their final choice, with the right technical, judicial support.
An important element of our client relationships is total, reciprocal trust, which allows us to handle even delicate issues with success.

Constantly keeping up to date professionally, with a close network of collaborations

The lawyers at our firm attend courses to constantly update their professional skills, so as to keep up with legal and judicial changes and thereby offer current and precise advice.
Our expertise in all the fields in which a civil lawyer is required also rests on our solid network of collaborations with other important firms in Bologna and the rest of Italy. With law firms from other regions, these collaborations have involved hiring visiting lawyers from other firms and substitutions at hearings.

Assistance for minors

Legal assistance for underage clients is a very delicate task for a lawyer. It involves defending the interests of people who can find themselves at a disadvantage compared to other members of society, lacking as yet the independence to do so themselves and having a still developing, undefined personality.

If judges are required to have a certain level of specialisation in juvenile law, the same should be desired of lawyers, in order that minors can receive the right judicial support, in issues of both civil and criminal law.

Administrative and criminal law

Regarding administrative law, our lawyers have particular experience in two areas: objecting to penalties (a typical case is that of objecting to assessment reports for highway code violations) and immigration law, especially helping foreign citizens to get residence permits and objecting to expulsion orders.
In the field of criminal law, Studio Murgo e Graziani in Bologna defends both the accused and victims of crime, frequently dealing with tax and drug offences and violations of the highway code.
We provide assistance to prisoners, including with healthcare, requests for suspension of sentences and requests for house arrest.
About us

Civil and labour law

Our firm's expertise covers various elements of civil law, for which we offer assistance to individuals and companies.
Our lawyers deal, for example, with issues of family and juvenile law (separations, divorces, filiations, property relations within families, relations between legal and natural children, adoptions, etc.), successions, drawing up contracts and credit recovery.
We have gained specific expertise in compensation for damages arising from road accidents. Our firm relies on technical advice from experts in this field and in labour law. Labour law issues we deal with frequently include dismissals, salary checks, compensation or investigations in cases of bullying and, more generally, any problems arising from the relationship between workers and employers. as well as their respective rights and responsibilities in the workplace.

Drawing up contracts

Contracts: an instrument of autonomy in negotiations
Contracts are without doubt an important instrument of autonomy in negotiations, that give parties the freedom to regulate existing judicial property relations between themselves. However, while drafting a contract, it is always advisable to be assisted by an expert lawyer in the field it concerns. This is not only to ensure that it is drawn up perfectly, free of formal errors and complete with all the necessary technical attachments.

Why it's preferable to be assisted by a lawyer
A lawyer's advice in this field also serves to ensure that useful clauses are inserted to protect the client legally, and damaging ones are identified and removed, where necessary. These include ones that might affect the negotiation of the contract with potential third parties. This is to say nothing of the client receiving correct instruction about the legal consequences and application of the negotiation in question.

Teamwork
At lawyers Caterina Murgo and Katia Graziani's legal firm, careful and experienced professionals can give you legal assistance with drawing up contracts and solid technical judicial support in many other areas of law: criminal, civil and administrative law, compensation for damages, etc. Whatever kind of case you bring to us, our team of lawyers will examine and defend it with the expertise and diligence expected of professionals at their level, benefitting from the technical advice of trusted experts.

MEN OF LAW TALKING ABOUT JUVENILE LAW AND VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN:

"Fascinating and sensitive topics; family law, juvenile rights, damages, defence of sexual harassment and violence victims, trials for mafia association.
These and others are the areas of law in which the firm Murgo and Graziani in Bologna operate. The lawyers deal with the most delicate cases with determination, competence and sensitivity
"We advice people who have suffered a painful and traumatic experience and who will have to recall it and relive it in the courtroom. The people who risk of not being believed and not being able to prove the damage suffered concretely"
For this reason, it is very important that the lawyer shows the necessary consideration and helps the client focus on the experience lived and provide all the useful elements.  This, however painful, may prove decisive for the success of the trial.
Caterina Murgo

DEFENDING WOMEN

"A particularly important case dates a few years back – recalls Murgo – Our firm joined a civil action on behalf of a client who suffered sexual acts by her GP during a normal home visit. We managed to obtain conviction and compensation of the damage. The usual struggles in a case like this were

amplified by several factors: there were no eyewitnesses; other patients subjected to similar actions were reluctant to testify; we had the young woman's word against that of a successful and esteemed professional and no document or proof of the harassment suffered.
The victim, as very often happens in these cases, didn't want to take action. She didn't want to have to appear in public and relive what happened." The absolute trust and collaboration between the client and Murgo allowed them to go ahead and achieve a good result in court.
Equally difficult and particularly dramatic, Murgo recalls, was the case of a client who had contracted HIV from her long-term partner. He hadn't told her about his condition. You can imagine the state of mind of the client and how hard our firm worked to prove that her condition actually stemmed from that relationship and that she was not aware of her boyfriend's health condition.

CHILDREN FIRST

Cases like these are certainly difficult to forget, but similar sensitivity and competence are needed when dealing with issues of juvenile criminal law. The lawyer will consider both the young age of the client and the different legislation applied by the juvenile court.
The secret to successfully managing these cases is a team of lawyers who continuously update their professional skills, keep contact with the client and build mutual and absolute trust: essential elements to deal with sensitive topics effectively and with the evolving legislation and jurisprudence.
"In this context, explains Graziani, a major legislative change was introduced by law 54/2006 on shared custody. This affirms and broadens the principle of double parenthood and it is aimed at ensuring that children are entitled to a relationship that is as stable and balanced as possible.
